Stephen H. Phelps, educated at Yale and ordained in the tradition of the Presbyterian Church (USA), served congregations across New York State capped by three years as Interim Senior Minister at The Riverside Church in New York City.  Retired from the ministry, Phelps sits on the board of directors for CANY, part of his commitment to ending mass incarceration.  For ten years, he participated in a weekly conversation with men inside Attica and from 2009 to 2012, he taught courses at Sing Sing in the master’s degree program of the New York Theological Seminary. He and his wife Dr. Beth Mount live in New York City and Coxsackie.
